Production

Garlic is a close relative to the onion, shallot, leek, and chive. It is native to Central Asia and north-eastern Iran but is now grown all over the world. The plant sends up hollow leaves from the underground bulb. The bulb is divided into many fleshy cloves that are separated by a papery husk.
