Production
Whole dates, pitted, dried, and ground. Dates are, by general consensus, the world’s oldest known fruit. They have been grown throughout the Middle East and North Africa for over 6,000 years, a dietary staple and incorporated into almost every meal or eaten alone. Ancient cultures referred to date palms as “the tree of life”. Traditionally, dates were used to break fasts as they have high carbohydrate and sugar contents, immediately raising blood sugars and providing instantaneous energy.
